Not too bad.

So, I don't have a whole lot to say today but todays run went pretty well. It wasn't too hard. 12:32.

Thanksgiving Break...

So the Wed. before Thanksgiving I did run, I just never wrote about it!

12:07. It was A HARD run. That tuesday and wednesday may have been the hardest of all. I took Thursday through Saturday off because I went to my grandparents for the holiday and they had no tread mill.

Now I'm back, it's Sunday and I just returned from my run. I didn't want to go as fast as I have been because I thought it might kill me. I ran it in 12:55. The 3rd lap felt like it took forever, but it wasn't all that hard. Half way through the 4th lap I ran pretty fast to the finish. My shins haven't been hurting, but my shoulder kills me. I hurt it in high school and then again about a year and a half ago so that's frustrating...

Can I Wish Death Upon Running?!

That was, by far, the worst, hardest run I've ever had. 12:05 and I thought I was dyin by 2.5 minutes! Whew!

Not to mention there's a gooood 4 inches of snow outside...that I had to walk through to get to the gym. Luckily my trsuty rain boots kept my feet nice and dry!

3 Days Without Running

I was dreading my run today. I thought it would be tough after taking a 3 day break and eating crappy all weekend. However, it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. And my time....12:21. Almost 2 min off my first time!

No Tread Mill!

There's NO tread mill in the "Fitness Room" here at the hotel in San Diego, so I didn't run today. I did, however use the stair stepper and the bike. I'm hoping this won't kill me for mondays run!

One week ago today...

...I ran my first mile ever! And since then I've run 6 more! My time was 14:10 and today I hit 12:46! I've knocked off over a minute!

Today sucked. I was HOT the whole time. I usually turn the fan on at about .25 miles. I tried today and it was UNPLUGGED! I wasn't about to get off the tread mill so I about died the entire time.

Next time I will make sure the fan is plugged in before I start. :)

Oh yeah, no shin splints today either! Crossing my fingers it stays that way!

No Shin Splints!

Yeah, that's right! I had NO shin splints my entire run! I'm hoping that means they're gone for good, but I don't think I'm that lucky....My time was 13:12! That's almost a whole minute faster than my first mile!! I didn't want to fall over and die. I'm pretty sure that's thanks to the shin splints disappearing, but it wasn't easy by any means. I'm just thankful it wasn't nearly as hard as the last 2 days!!!

Is the hard part over yet?

Today was almost just as hard as yesterday. It didn't get hard as fast, but it was still killer.

13:25! I'm getting faster. I hope there's a tread mill at the hotel in San Diego this weekend!

When do I get to the top of the mountain?

I never want to run again!

This was the hardest mile, BY FAR. I felt pretty weak on my way over to the gym, but I was determined to do the dang mile anyways! I thought I was going to fall off the dang tread mill before I ever got to a half mile. Not a good start. I've heard it gets harder, before it gets easier? Or maybe it was that I skipped yesterday? Or maybe it was that I went to a birthday party Saturday and Sunday and ate tons of junk. Whatever the reason IT SUCKED. But I did beat my time. 13:34. Go me!

This better get easier quickly or I really won't be running again!

Yeah, that's right, two posts in one day.

Day 6 in a row....3rd time EVER running a full mile! 13:50.

Hardest one yet, but I did it.

Just a fluke?

You thought maybe it was a fluke that I ran a mile once, huh? Well, I did it again! 1 mile, without stopping, in 14 min flat! 10 seconds faster. I've i've stated before, time is not my goal right now, but that's still awesome! AND this was day 5 in a row!

My best friend, Lindsey, and I decided we would run a 5k! I figured most of the 5k's are done for the winter until I was driving and saw a sign for a 5k Thanksgiving morning! I was excited, until I realized that's 12 days away! I for sure need more training than 12 days. Remember how 1 mile is a HUGE deal to me? Yeah, 5k not gonna happen for a little while. I'm keeping my eyes peeled for races in the more distant future. You know, now that I think about it, I don't know about this 5k thing...Races are all in the MORNING. Like, you need to be there by 6 or 7 am. For any of you that know me, I don't do mornings. If you hear of any 5k's in the afternoon/evening....you let me know. I know I'm dreamin on that one...

Well, since it's day 6, I think I better keep this up and hit the tread mill!

I'm not even kidding!

I RAN one FULL mile today. I didn't stop once ! And in case you don't believe me (which I can understand), I have a witness! 14:10 BAM! Yeah, SLOW....I can WALK a mile faster, but my goal is not time here...it was the actual running part.

I still had shin splints. They kill. You can see the swelling as soon as I stop. Yeah, it's THAT bad. I asked my friend, you know the one, google, last night. He told me that some althletes have shin splints pretty much always and some people get them when they're not quite in shape and grow out of them. I'm hoping for the ladder. Yeah, that'd be better. Google also told me that some people just run through them and some people let them "heal," for sometimes weeks, before they run again. I'm bad ass. I will run through them. You know, because clearly I'm such a dedicated runner.

Goal tomorrow: 1 mile. I will own that mile. Should I be bragging? We'll see...

Epic Fail

So, CLEARLY I failed the last time I tried to become a "runner." Lets get real running 50 yards and feeling like death is not exactly something I want to keep doing.

I have recently moved and I'm a much happier person all around because of this. I've decided, over the last few months, while eating....a lot....on the couch, that I'm out of shape. (I'm kidding, I never sit on the couch) Woah! Big shocker! It took me a good while to figure that one out...not. Okay, so on a serious side. I'm happier now that I've moved and my life has calmed down quite a bit. I hit the gym on monday (November 8). I thought I'd try that running thing. Now, let me tell you, when I hit the gym, I usually walk the tread mill for a few miles and maybe do some sit ups/push ups and some weight training. Towards the end of my "walk" I usually try to run for at least 1 minute....HAHAHA, that's like torture. You think 1 minute, easy? I think 1 minute running...I'd rather walk an extra 20! Sometimes I start out my walk with a 1 min run thinking it will be easier that way....NO way! I'm exhausted by then and don't even want to walk. Laugh now or forever hold your peace. You won't be laughing every long!

I ran .25 miles, without stopping! Whhhhhat?! Okay, that's kind of funny too. You can laugh again. You think nothing. I think HELL, I've never ran that far. Ever. Okay, okay...but get THIS, come tuesday...I went running again! Yes, the next DAY, not even the following week! Whhhhat! AND this time, I ran .6 miles, without stopping! *High five! 8:40...balla! I know, you run twice that in the same amount of time....but i'm accomplishing running here! Helllllo! That's a big freaking deal!

Day 3! Yeah, 3 in a ROW. I told my dad I ran for 8:40 and he said why didn't you just go for an even 10? And I was like, what the? I just accomplished something BIG here...I was only trying to get to .6! But I thought what the hell I can do 10! That's cake...and by cake I mean...it's like a normal person eating an entire cake and then trying to run for 10 min! Who does that? Yeah, you're right...no one! But guess what, I ran 10. In fact, I ran over 11 min! You see the tread mill I've been running on takes you on "laps" 1 lap is .25 miles....so as soon as I hit 10 min, I was thought I might as well finish my lap! .75 miles today!! Day 3...in a row, you remember, right?!

Here's the thing though....as soon as I kick it down to walking speed I want to fall over! I have SHIN SPLINTS! OUCH! AHH. I'm almost skipping on the tread mill at this point, I can only walk flat footed. I need to fix this. I will ask my good friend, google. He usually has the answers to all the tricks. I'll let you know how he educates me and if it helps with my Day 4 run. Day 4 as in, tomorrow! Yeah, that's right 4 in a row! Okay, maybe I won't brag too soon. I was "determined" in March and look how that one turned out...
